Junior Police Academy

2025 Sapulpa Junior Police Academy

  • Application Deadline: May 30, 2025
  • Academy Dates: June 8 – June 14
  • Location will vary between the Sapulpa Police Department at 20 N Walnut St. and the Sapulpa Police Department Range located at Lone Star Rd and Hickory St.
  • Time 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday (Orientation on Sunday Evening on June 8th)

The requirements for eligibility in the Sapulpa Junior
Police Academy are as follows:

  • Must be ages 13 to 20 years old
  • No prior convictions for criminal or serious offense
  • Must hold and maintain a minimum of 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) in high school or college if currently enrolled
    • Note: If the minimum GPA requirement is not met a letter of recommendation to participate in the program from their school academic counselor and an interview with program staff before application into the program is allowed.
  • Must hold a positive attitude and willingness to succeed
  • Letter of recommendation

Rules for participation:

  • Mandatory attendance to the first class or your application is rescinded
  • Mandatory attendance to gun safety class to participate in firing range class
  • Punctuality is a must
  • Class participation/attention is required
  • Attention and respect to all staff and instructors is required
  • Adherence to dress code

  • Complete the Junior Police Academy Application form and send it by email to mhenson@sapulpapd.gov or deliver in person to Officer Henson at the Sapulpa Police Department

About the Academy

The goal for each week is to: 

  • Give kids interested in Law Enforcement a real and up-close look at what it takes to become a Police Officer!
  • Inform kids on how the Sapulpa Police Department helps keep them and their community safe!
  • Foster community relations with the Sapulpa Police Department and local youth!

  • Officer Safety and Patrol Tactics
  • Criminal Investigations and Crime Scenes
  • Traffic Investigations
  • Communications
  • Police Canines
  • Narcotics Investigations
  • S.W.A.T.
  • Firearms and Hunter Safety
  • Defensive Tactics and Custody and Control
  • Building Searches

Important Information:

  • Students will need to pack a lunch, snacks and water will be provided throughout the class
  • On Saturday June 14 lunch will be provided
  • Payment may be brought to the Sapulpa Police Department the first day of the academy, Sunday June 8th
  • Cost includes a t-shirt for the student
